I enjoy taking weekend trips, January 11, 2016

Before I talk about the bag, I feel it’s important you know why I purchased it in the first place. I am a frequent traveler. I enjoy taking weekend trips, week long excursions and have even been out for weeks at a time. Because of this, I am a big supporter of carry-on travel only. No checking in luggage (which can be extra fees $$$) and having just enough to get you by is more than enough. A carry-on bag should be no more than 9x14x22 (in inches) which is about 40-45 liters (the capacity a backpack is measured by.) I simply wanted a big for short weekend excursions that fit within the size measurements to be a legitimate carry on bag.

Here comes the AmazonBasics Adventure Backpack.

The Adventure measures is at approximately 8×12.5×19.5, which is about 30-32 liters. It’s the perfect size for those short getaways. I happened to pack the following into my bag:

    2 tanktops/undershirts
    2 t-shirts
1 short sleeve button up shirt
    1 long sleeve shirt
    1 pair of H&M chinos
    1 boardshorts
    3 underwear
    3 pairs of socks
1 Turkish travel towel (great buy for anyone!)
    1 windbreaker hoodie
    flip flops
toiletry kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, bar soap, pomade and deodorant)
small pouch for extra USB cables, chargers
    Nook HD+
    13in Macbook Pro

This would not be including the clothes I would be wearing which would yield me about 4 days worth of clothing to bring somewhere. If I do my own laundry, or drop it off at a drop & fold type laundromat, I’d still be saving significant money while maintaining a very light packlist.

In the words of Rick Steve’s, “No one ever brags that they packed HEAVIER the next time around.”

The Adventure has great organization (front pocket for pens and notepads, large main compartment, two side compartments for toiletries, tablet/laptop slot and documents slot) and at $40 is an amazing value.

The product is well constructed and isn’t flimsy. The handle has a rubberized grip on top and the straps are sewn well.

I am incredibly happy with my purchase. Backpacks with similar features can easily be 2 – 3x as much, and Amazon delivers a solid product and an ultra competitive pricepoint.

I agree with the positive reviews for this product and with the observation that it is a good value.

Attached are two pictures that show the tablet holder compartment and the main packing compartment. The 10.1” Galaxy Note tablet is shown inside the tablet holder next to a 15.6” Dell M4700 with a 12” ruler on top. The outline of the laptop compartment matches that of the tablet holder compartment. Shown in the main packing compartment is a 7.5”x5.5” lunch container along with the 12” ruler. The narrow end of the lunch box fits within the outline of the bottom end of the main packing compartment.

Love this backpack. I have a 17.3″ ASUS ROG gaming laptop that I put in the AmazonBasics neoprene sleeve first then put into this backpack. The fit is a little tight zipping it up but still works well and I like the added protection of the neoprene sleeve. Even with the laptop in this thing has multiple useful pockets. I am able to put the power cord, mouse, a bunch of pens, a 10″ tablet, my eye glasses case, a hard cigar case and my daily carry HK USP .45 compact and still have plenty of room for other things. The straps are comfortable and the adjustments work very well. There’s not one thing I can think of that I do not like about this backpack.

EDITED: I had swapped this laptop I had (ASUS ROG GL752VW-DH74 17-Inch Gaming Laptop) for the higher end model with the GTX980 video card (ASUS ROG G751JY-WH71(WX) 17-Inch Gaming Laptop) which has that cool looking air ventilation system on the back and has a wider profile which still fit in this backpack, but was very tight. I did not want to switch this laptop bag but needed to get a bigger bag and went with the
Bonvince 18.4″ Laptop Backpack Fits Up To 18.4 which is also awesome and very similar to this Amazon bag with even a few more features.
